Today, Tuesday, the Governor of Diwaniyah, Abbas Shuail Al-Zamili, announced the commencement of implementation of the largest agricultural investment project in the desert of the Shinafiya District, while the executive company indicated that the project will provide more than 10,000 job opportunities.

Al-Zamili told the (INA): “The Engineer Investment Company has begun soil examination work for the purpose of investing 26 thousand dunams to plant palm trees and agricultural crops in Al-Shinafiya district, as the largest agricultural investment project in the governorate.”

Al-Zamili added, “The governorate administration is working to make Diwaniyah the agricultural capital of Iraq by bringing in investment companies in the field of agriculture that will employ the largest possible number of people in the governorate.”

Al-Zamili stressed, “We are working to expedite the administrative and legal procedures with government departments, for the purpose of completing the contract with Al-Muhandis Investment Company.”

Al-Zamili stated, “The Shinafiyah district will be a starting point for agricultural investment projects in the governorate, in addition to initiating with other companies to complete the construction of the iron and steel factory, the Diwaniyah Airport project for air and commercial cargo, and the Diwaniyah Tower project.”

For his part, the head of the Diwaniyah Investment Authority, Razzaq Shubar, told the (INA), that “the local government represented by the governor is working to bring in sound companies and facilitate legal and administrative procedures to create a suitable and attractive environment for investment.”

In turn, the Executive Director of Al-Muhandis Investment Company, Salah Mahdi, explained to the (INA), that “the company took samples to examine the soil to begin cultivating field crops and creating multi-space complexes for growing vegetables (hydropolis) through optimal planning for the exploitation of the land,” pointing out “His company is working on building Maltspan houses with an area of ​​50,000 square meters, in addition to developing plans to create 10 other groups in cooperation with a Spanish company, to exploit the time factor and achieve optimal investment of the allocated land.”

He pointed out, “The site was chosen due to its proximity to neighboring governorates, in addition to its contribution to providing more than 10,000 job opportunities.”
