The United States Senate has voted overwhelmingly in favor of a law that could mean the end of TikTok in the American country, President Joe Biden has signed the project to ban the use of the social network.
Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok, reacted to the signing of the initiative by the president of the United States, Joe Biden, which would force him to sell the platform or suffer a ban on its use in North American territory, pointing out that they will not sell and that they will fight your rights in court.
“Rest assured, we are not going anywhere. We will continue to fight for your free speech rights in court. The facts and the Constitution are on our side and we hope to prevail,” Shou Zi Chew said.
The bill comes amid growing concerns about national security and the privacy of Americans’ data, which is in the hands of a Chinese company.
The measure, which received broad bipartisan support, passed by a total of 79 votes in favor and 18 against, has also been attached to a bill to provide $95 billion in primarily military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
