3 killed in attacks targeting police stations in southern Iran

/ Iranian official media reported, on Thursday, that at least three security men, including the deputy head of a police station, were killed in attacks on security centers and headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard in southern Iran.

The official IRNA news agency said that a group calling itself the Army of Justice launched attacks on the headquarters of Police Station No. 11 in the city of Chabahar, resulting in the killing of the deputy head of the police station in addition to two other security personnel.

The Deputy Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs, Ali Reza Merhamti, announced that three security defenders have been killed so far as a result of the attacks that targeted several military headquarters in the south of the province yesterday evening, Wednesday.

Ali Reza Merhamati said in an interview with an IRNA correspondent at dawn on Thursday: “At approximately 10:00 pm on Wednesday (6:30 pm GMT), several military headquarters were attacked by a terrorist group in the cities of Rask and Chabahar (in Sistan Province). And Balochistan, southeastern Iran.

He added: “In light of the readiness of the military and police forces, the attackers were confronted, a number of whom were killed or wounded.”

Merhamati stated that the security situation is under control, and added: “The “Army of Injustice” group (the so-called Army of Justice) affiliated with the Zionists is the one that claimed responsibility for these terrorist attacks.”
