Ukrainian soldiers showed how they destroy a Russian T-64BV tank protected by a thin steel “cage”. The tactics here are simple – the first drone breaks through the cage and stops the tank, and the second one strikes through the hole left by the first one. And that’s it: a couple of cheap drones destroy a Russian tank like this.
The T-64BV is, of course, an old tank, but the Russians don’t have much else. The T-64 was developed in Kharkiv and was produced there from 1963 to 1987.
The BV version came out in the 1980s and is more advanced, but if the Russians had a lot of T-72, T-80 and T-90 tanks, the T-64 would have been obsolete a long time ago.
As for the cages, they trigger quite often. Light drones get stuck in steel “cages” and explode away from real armor.
However, this only means that it takes multiple drones to destroy one machine. On the other hand, such protection still increases the chances of crew survival – the crew of the T-64BV seen above in the video probably escaped.
However, everything is much more difficult when the tank is protected not only by light additional armor, but also by an electronic warfare system.
