At the moment, we do not see any step by the RA authorities that would be aimed at the return of Artsakh residents, Hakob Hakobyan, co-chairman of Artsakh’s “Ardarutyun” party, said in a conversation with “Medialab”.
“We have repeatedly said that all the programs implemented for the forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians currently in Armenia should be aimed at their return, but today we do not see any action aimed at their return in any program. This government does not make efforts to bring the issue of return to the negotiation table and discuss it during the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations,” said Hakobyan.
According to him, the authorities openly declare that there is no such issue on their political agenda at the moment.
“And it is very unfortunate that they just want to solve the social issues of those who were forcibly displaced from Artsakh only in that sense, instead of creating a dignified temporary shelter for the forcibly displaced, until the possibility of return,” said the co-chairman of Artsakh’s “Justice” party.
As for the negotiations on the “peace” agenda, as Hakob Hakobyan noted, they do not establish peace “at the cost of everything”, it will have the opposite result.
“Any country that is going to achieve peace at any cost is doomed to failure and will get not peace, but war, because peace at the cost of everything is not peace at all.
Azerbaijanis are ready to receive peace without Armenians, not peace with Armenians, and I think that in this process, Azerbaijan achieves the strengthening of its positions in the region, including the satisfaction of its territorial aspirations, rather than peace. Therefore, the conversations and negotiations on that topic are not real until we clarify our conditions,” he said.
