Recently, Israel has been hit by a wave of rising prices, which may worsen due to the suspension of trade relations with Turkey, which supplied many goods to our country, including vegetables and fruits. It is expected that some of these products may increase in price.
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBB), Türkiye exported many vegetables and fruits to our country. If Israel does not challenge the sanctions and does not compensate for supplies with imports from other countries, then the Israelis are unlikely to be able to avoid rising prices for some products. We are talking, in particular, about dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, apples, pears and quinces, as well as various dried fruits.
Among vegetables, due to a decrease in supplies, prices for tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and cucumbers may rise in Israel. Since October last month, tens of thousands of tons of these products have been imported from Turkey to our country.
Let us note that the Ministry of Economy has filed a complaint with the Secretary General of the OECD about Turkey’s actions and expects the organization to take action, because Erdogan’s decision harms the European economy.
“Cursor” wrote earlier that the Ministry of Agriculture answered the Israelis whether a shortage of products is expected in the country due to the sanctions imposed by the Turkish government.
We also wrote that water supply prices in Israel may become significantly more expensive in the summer.
