One day after being taken to Hospital Santa Júlia in Manaus for treatment of erysipelas on his arm and leg on Saturday (4), former president Jair Bolsonaro was admitted again in the capital of Amazonas, on the morning of this Sunday (5), for the same reason.
Federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL-AM) is accompanying Bolsonaro and confirmed to Gazeta do Povo that the former president had to return to the medical center to take intravenous antibiotics. “But he reacts well and shows improvement,” said the congressman, also a pre-candidate for mayor of Manaus.
The doctors’ recommendation would be for Bolsonaro not to travel and may even spend the night under observation. As a result, he should only return to Brasília this Monday (6).
The former president went to the city to participate in a PL Mulher meeting, together with former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. At night, he also participated in a live on X with an influencer from the USA, which most people on Brazilian soil were only able to access through a VPN connection.
What is erysipelas, which affects Bolsonaro
Erysipelas is a skin infection process, caused by bacteria and which can spread throughout the body via lymphatic vessels. It can cause swelling, itching, blisters and, in more serious cases, skin necrosis. Treatment is with antibiotics to reduce swelling and eliminate the infection.
Bolsonaro himself has already canceled official schedules, when he was still president, in November 2022, for treatment.
