Yura Movsisyan, the former striker of the national team of Armenia, who has decided to end his football career, has released a message on this occasion, in which, in particular, it is said:

“I have always known throughout my career that this day would come. I always thought that everything would be easier for me than for many of my retired teammates. For 14 years of my career, I have been doing what I love the most. Every time I step on the field, I give 100 percent, and now, with everything that’s happened to me in the last year, the injuries, leaving Real Salt Lake, knowing that I won’t be able to play at 100 percent, I’ve decided I’ve decided to leave now, under the circumstances I want, rather than drag this out for a few more years.

Proud to have played in some of the best leagues in the world and lived in some of the best cities in the world. I thank all my teammates who played with me during my club career, all the coaches who trained me. In almost all the clubs I have played for, I have achieved achievements that are dear to me.

Nevertheless, it was special for me to play in the national team of Armenia. Every football player dreams of playing in his country’s national team since childhood. I made the decision to play for the national team of my homeland, Armenia, even though playing for the USA team would have given me the opportunity to compete in the World Cup. It was an even greater honor for me because I wanted to join the Armenian team to make a difference. I can proudly say that I succeeded. Being a part of one of the best generations in the history of Armenian football, bringing so much joy to our nation is the main achievement of my 14-year career.

Having finished what I intended to say, I would like to thank once again all the people with whom I played in the national team. My career would never be what it is without my teammates. I thank all the coaches, team and federation staff, all the people who played a role in my career. I am especially grateful to our wonderful fans, whose support I felt during the most difficult moments for me. I hope and am sure that we will meet again within the framework of the football game, in whatever capacity I may be.”

Yura Movsisyan was appointed FFA Ambassador to North America at the suggestion of FFA President Armen Melikbekyan.

“Yura Movsisyan, in my deep conviction, is one of the best football players of Armenia after independence. I am sure that his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will be very useful in the framework of the cooperation that we have undertaken. Yura Movsisyan will be the bridge, thanks to which the connection between FFA and our compatriots in North America, who are engaged in football, will become closer,” Armen Melikbekyan said in this regard.

In his turn, Yura Movsisyan noted.

“I am very happy for such trust. After finishing my career, I want to be useful to our football as much as possible. A large number of Armenians live in the USA and, in general, in North America. That is why it is important to maintain the connection between here and Armenia, to contribute together to the quick settlement of problems and the development of football.”
