Great was the presence of Gianniotissa Charas Zina at the Panhellenic Juniors Tennis Championship 2024 under 14 years of age, which ended in Larissa on May 2nd with the participation of more than 900 sportsmen and women from all over Greece.
The 14-year-old athlete, who trains at TopSpin Epirus Tennis Center, was named 2nd Panhellenic winner in the under-14 Girls’ Doubles with teammate Dioni Koukoulis from Athens. Also a very important success was the winning of the 3rd place in the girls’ singles also under 14 years. In addition, the young athlete from Ioannina ranked 4th in the Mixed Doubles tournament with teammate Konstantinos Kalpaxidis from the Thessaloniki Panthers.
In particular, Chara Zina, No. 3 on the board, in Singles eliminated Melina Kontogiannopoulou in the 1st round with 6-0, 6-0, in the 2nd round with Emmanuela Vagionas with 6-1, 6-1, in the 3rd round with Eliana Mythi with 6 -0, 6-4, in the quarter-final phase against Antonia Papagapitou 7-6, 6-0, while she was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Konstantina Volonakis in the semi-final. In the minor final, she competed against Vasiliki Liagridoni, whom she defeated 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 and won 3rd place in Greece.
In Doubles, with teammate Dioni Koukoulis, they reached the final of the tournament, and won 2nd place, losing in the final to Lydia Panagiotidou and Konstantina Volonaki with 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 after a great battle.
Hara Zina is in 3rd place in the Panhellenic Ranking for athletes under 14 years of age, while it is worth noting that this year she has been named Champion in Greece six times, twice in the All-Hellenic Level 1 tournament for under-14s and four times in All-Hellenic Open Level 3 tournament for under 16s.
