Despite the ongoing T20 series of the national team against Zimbabwe, none of the members of the two teams stepped foot in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla today. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) game development department has taken advantage of this opportunity when everyone is having a rest during the one-day break.
A special spin camp was organized by bringing national team spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed. The 16 leg spinners found in a combing operation across the country a few days ago were students of Pakistani legendary spinner Mushtaq. The camp started on Saturday (May 11) morning at Mirpur Indoor for about three hours.
Confirming the matter of the camp, the manager of the game development department, Abu Inam Mohammad Kausar, said, ‘We got him, he gave some tips to the boys. The national team had no duty today. I used this opportunity. The wrist spinners who were nearby were brought and the camp was arranged.’
BCB hunted spinners across the country under the supervision of Pakistani spin coach Shahid Mahmood of Game Development. Initially 80 spinners were selected from 64 districts. Then 20 people were selected from these 80 people with a trial in Mirpur. Camp was arranged with Mushtaq today with 16 people who are close to these 20 people.
Coach Shahid was also with Mushtaq in the camp. He said Mushtaq spoke to each spinner separately. Saw potential in them. Not only that, Mushtaq’s door will always be open for these young spinners.
Shahid said, ‘He works with everyone. Impressed by their talent. He highlighted the issue of their care for a long time. He always wants to work with these leg spinners. Asked to contact him anytime for any help.’
The camp for leg spinners will start at the end of this month, the game development department said. Camps are initially planned for 10 weeks a year. This can be done separately, Mushtaq will be used whenever he gets the chance.
The game development manager said, ‘There were 16 spinners today. They are in our various programs. We will start the camp soon by bringing them together. This camp will run regularly under Shahed Mahmud. When there is an opportunity, he (Mushtaq) will come and give tips.
