I’m following the events in Rio Grande do Sul from afar and I say, look, in my life I’ve seen a lot of disasters, from afar, up close, on TV, etc…here in the USA there’s a hurricane, a tornado a few days ago and so many other things, but not even 11 of 9 made me as sad as the current situation there. Probably because it is happening in my original “home” with my native People, as well as with friends and family. I’ve even avoided watching the news so I don’t have to see the suffering, but now I’ve forced myself to watch JN. It’s hard to see….now imagine living it. It also hurts to see, in addition to humans, animals who are also suffering. A friend of mine here in the USA, Gaucha, organized a collection here to send to a friend in Porto Alegre who has been helping homeless animals for a long time and who is now out there trying to help animals. We managed to raise $1000 Dollars and have already sent it to her so she can buy food for the animals and for people she meets who are left without a home. She is a Saint.
