2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts: 38 hanged – Rajiv convicted in murder case | Special court pronounces death sentence to 38 in 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Special Court has sentenced 38 convicts to death in connection with the 2008 serial blasts in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A further 11 have been sentenced to life imprisonment. For the first time in the country, 26 people have been sentenced to death after the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

On July 26, 2008, there were 22 consecutive bomb blasts in Ahmedabad at 70-minute intervals. A total of 56 people were killed in these horrific bombings that shocked the country. A further 240 people were seriously injured.
