Mass exodus from pro-Russian areas of eastern Ukraine to Russia as Ukraine intensifies shelling. The first train carrying refugees from Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic arrived at the Voronezh railway station in Russia.

There were 500 people on the train that left Rostov on Saturday evening. They were transferred to temporary shelters. More trains and buses will be available, officials said. Meanwhile, two civilians were killed in a Ukrainian shelling in Lugansk. Five houses collapsed in the village of Pioneerskoy, seven kilometers from the Russian border. Russia’s Investigative Committee registered two criminal cases in the incident.

On Sunday morning, the Ukrainian army crossed the Seversky Donetsk River and tried to capture the posts of the Lugansk People’s Army but failed. On Saturday alone, there were 49 shelling attacks in Ukraine. The attack targeted 27 settlements. Russia says Ukraine will intensify its offensive in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions on Monday night.

Military training will continue

Belarus’s Defense Minister Viktor Krenin has said that Russia will continue its joint military exercises with Ukraine. As the joint exercise draws to a close on Sunday, Belarusian President Alaskander Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to continue military training. Western nations have accused Russia of invading Ukraine and encircling the country with Russian troops.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Selensky has said he will hold talks with Russia in the event of a escalation of the conflict. Putin should suggest a suitable place for the two leaders to meet directly. He told a security conference in Munich that Ukraine would continue its diplomatic path. Countries, including Germany and Austria, have called for an end to the war and for civilians to leave Ukraine. NATO has also announced that it is relocating its Liaison Office in Kiev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to work for a ceasefire in Ukraine. This was announced by Sham Macron’s office after an hour and 45 minutes long discussion.
