Clarification from the Oil Ministry concerning the employment of nationwide employees in licensing spherical tasks

The Ministry of Oil clarified, on Tuesday, the essential standards for concluding contracts with worldwide corporations, whereas indicating that precedence is given to using nationwide employees in all its contracts.

The ministry’s spokesman, Asim Jihad, advised the (INA): “The Ministry of Oil is eager to make use of nationwide employees and provides them precedence in all contracts concluded with worldwide corporations, particularly with regard to licensing rounds,” indicating that “these contracts stipulate the employment of greater than 85 % of Iraqi employees.”

He added that “the nationwide workforce within the Rumaila subject, which is among the largest oil fields, has reached greater than 90 %,” indicating that “the ministry, in its contracts, has emphasised the problem of giving precedence to nationwide employees, and worldwide corporations are dedicated to that.”

He added that “the ministry concludes contracts that stipulate corporations’ dedication to using employees and adopting worldwide requirements concerning public well being and the setting, along with offering occupational security for employees.”
