jpnn.comJAKARTA – Secretary of the Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Fitra Arda, said that keroncong music is part of the cultural heritage that must be preserved and developed.
“Keroncong as one of the cultural heritages should be maintained together, between the government and the community, amidst the onslaught of the very rapid flow of modernization. Our hope is that keroncong can grow and develop, be loved, and appreciated by the wider community so that we can find, enjoy, and host keroncong music in our own country,” said Fitra, quoted on Tuesday (2/7).
Fitra stated this when the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) again held the Keroncong Svaranusa 2024 event, Saturday (29/6), at the Menara Teratai Purwokerto Complex, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
Keroncong Svaranusa 2024 is the third time it has been held, starting from Tegal Regency and carrying the theme Bhinneka Tunggal Irama, Ora Keroncong Ora Kepenak. This event is held in collaboration with the Banyumas Regency Government and the Svara Irama Nusantara Foundation.
Acting Regent of Banyumas, Hanung Cahyo Saputro, expressed his gratitude for the success of the Keroncong Svaranusa 2024 in his area. Hanung said that a national-scale performance like Keroncong Svaranusa could be a driving force for the economy and society of Banyumas.
“Thank you for trusting our city to be the venue for a big stage like this. Our community culture is certainly enthusiastic to see how a luxurious orchestral performance is willing to be placed in an open space, integrated with a people’s night market. Of course this is not only a spectacle, but also a driving force for the progress of Bayumas,” said Hanung.
Fajri Sinaga, an orchestra player at Keroncong Svaranusa 2024, said that this activity can explore the potential of local communities and can also develop the keroncong music, which is traditional music, so that it can be known abroad.
One of the Keroncong Svaranusa 2024 music arrangers, Wahyudin Maulana Dwi Ansar said, this activity can foster the interest of the younger generation in the future of keroncong music. He hopes that in the future a more spectacular keroncong music event can be held.
