The Iraqi Central Table Tennis Federation continues its preparations to host the Iraq International Championship, which will be held in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, with the participation of ten Arab, Asian and European countries.
The head of the game’s federation, Herda Raouf, told the (INA) today, Thursday: “The insistence on holding the championship in Sulaymaniyah Governorate comes due to the requirements of the International Federation, including providing a training hall and a special hall for races, and this is what the University of Sulaymaniyah provides, which has four adjacent halls that will serve the interest of our federation in making the championship a success.”
Raouf added that “sports activities in Iraq suffer from a crisis in the sports facility, as most of them do not contain a hall for training and warming up for players, such as the People’s Hall and the People’s Stadium Hall for athletics,” stressing that “the Ministry of Youth and Sports was contacted about the need to build training halls and stadiums next to the halls, due to their importance, especially since Iraq is about to host many international and continental championships.”
Raouf added that the tournament will witness the participation of ten European, Asian and Arab countries, namely Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Qatar, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and the host country Iraq, and the tournament will last for four days.
