There is no shortage of any product in Armenia, he considers it incomprehensible the need to trade in a large volume, Gegham Gevorgyan, chairman of the State Competition Commission, told reporters today.
“There is no shortage of any product in Armenia. The process that happened during the coronavirus is taking place. People do a lot of trading in a day, the chains and suppliers don’t manage to move that one day or 2 days volume from the warehouse to the stores. Just as we promised during the coronavirus that there would not be any problems, now we say that there won’t be. It is unclear to me at least the need to trade in high volume. That product will stay at home and then spoil. If we were worried that there wouldn’t be enough volume of a product, we would limit trade and use other mechanisms. At the moment, there is no such problem,” said Gevorgyan.
He also mentioned that food prices are rising, oil prices are going to be expensive, they are going to be expensive all over the world.
“In RA, unlike many other countries, the price is much cheaper. It comes from Russia at a much more convenient price,” he said.
The MSU president also said that they are trying to find cheaper ways with businessmen so that there are no price shocks. There is at least a 2-month supply of diesel fuel in Armenia at the current price. Some managers may not have it. “As for sugar, if a new batch is purchased or beets, which are quite expensive on the stock exchange, there may be a slight price increase, but at the moment we still do not have such a problem,” Gevorgyan said.
