Family members of BBC journalist killed in alleged crossbow attack. Kyle Clifford, 26, is missing in connection with the murders of three women in Bushey
A manhunt is underway in north London for a man suspected of being armed with a crossbow, after three women – the wife and two daughters of a BBC journalist – were killed on Tuesday night. However, the man was found and detained.
Police say they are looking for a 26-year-old man named Kyle Clifford [imagem em cima, numa foto divulgada pela Polícia de Hertfordshire] linked to the deaths, which could be in the British capital or in the nearby county of Hertfordshire.
Police were called to a house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday night where three women were found badly injured who later died from their injuries.
The victims of the triple homicide have been identified as the wife, Carol Hunt, and two daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, the British public broadcaster reported on Wednesday. Police previously said the women, aged 25, 28 and 61, were killed, possibly murdered, in what is believed to be a “targeted incident”.
A crossbow is believed to have been used in the triple murder, although police said Wednesday that other weapons may have been used.
Police asked the public not to contact the suspect.
“Absolutely disastrous”
The BBC described the women’s deaths as “extremely devastating” in a statement to staff. The broadcaster said it would give Hunt “all the support we can”, as part of a note sent to BBC 5 Live staff.
“Today’s news about John Hunt’s family is terrible,” he said. “Our thoughts are with John and his family at this extremely difficult time and we will give him all the support we can.”
British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said she was being kept “fully informed” by police about the ongoing discovery.
“The loss of three women’s lives in Bushey last night is truly heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the family and friends of those killed and the community,” Cooper wrote on X on Wednesday.
“I am fully updated. I would like to ask people to support Hertfordshire Police with any information regarding this case,” she said.
A neighbor of the victims said she “saw them every day passing by and they said good morning,” according to PA Media.
“It’s very sad what happened, it’s very shocking,” he said.
