The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan, sent a congratulatory message to the athletes representing Armenia who won gold and silver medals at the 31st Summer Olympic Games in the Federal Republic of Brazil, the press service of the National Assembly reports.
The congratulatory message specifically states:
“I heartily congratulate our athletes who achieved glorious victories in Rio 2016. Artur Aleksanyan for winning the high award of the champion of the 31st Summer Olympic Games, vice-champions Mihran Harutyunyan, Gor Minasyan and Simon Martirosyan. Dear Armenians, we are proud of you for your competent and professional competitions in the Olympic Games.
Thanks to you, the Armenian tricolor was raised again and the Armenian national anthem was heard in the world.
I also congratulate all Armenians, because we are proud of you and we are sure that the victories will be continuous in the future in other international sports events as well. I am sure that your victories will be an example for future champions of Armenia.
Congratulating you once again on the occasion of the victories, dear athletes, I wish you new ascents and achievements.
And the fact that you directed your victories to our brave men standing at the border and to the heroic boys who died in the April war, is a proof of your patriotism and noble human values.
