The founding meeting for the creation of the Armenian-Ukrainian business council was held on February 16, in a remote format, in which leaders of various structures uniting the business circles of the two countries participated. Emphasizing such an initiative, Arsen Ghazaryan, the President of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia, presented the directions in which there are wide prospects for bilateral cooperation, he referred to the problems that the activity of the established council should be aimed at overcoming.

Anatoly Kinakh, President of the Union of Manufacturers and Factories of Ukraine and the Union of Employers’ Organizations, in his turn, referred to the potential that exists in the economies of Armenia and Ukraine in terms of joint cooperation. He expressed hope that the business communities of the two countries will be more active in the implementation of joint projects from now on.

The heads of business associations, associations and branch associations participating in the founding meeting presented the situation in their fields, prospective directions of interaction.

The agreement on the establishment of the Armenian-Ukrainian business council was signed by seven parties from Armenia (Union of Armenian Industrialists and Businessmen, Union of RA Banks, RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry, RA Union of Information and Communication Technologies, RA Builders Union, RA Light Industry Development Association, American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia), from Ukraine six (Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Ukraine, Association of Banks of Ukraine, Union of Employers’ Organizations of Ukraine, Internet Association of Ukraine, Chamber of Construction of Ukraine, Association of Light Industry Enterprises of Ukraine) structures.

According to the Agreement, the goals of the Council are to promote economic development and cooperation between Ukraine and Armenia by encouraging dialogue between the enterprises of the two countries, to promote private and business initiatives, which, among other things, will be aimed at joint participation in bilateral or multilateral projects. One of the goals is also the development of recommendations for the governmental structures of Ukraine and Armenia, which will be aimed at the practical measures of the strategy necessary for the strengthening of Ukrainian-Armenian business relations, as well as the search for new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Membership in the Council is open and voluntary for business unions of Ukraine and Armenia, unions, industrial associations, representatives of the private sector, as well as any other corporate and financial organizations of Ukraine and Armenia.

Joint sessions of the Business Council will be held regularly, at least twice a year, successively in Ukraine and Armenia or online.

RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Vladimir Karapetyan and Chargé d’Affaires of the RA Affairs in Armenia Denis Avtonomov took part in the meeting and welcomed the initiative.
