/ An Iranian report said on Thursday that the decision to ban the import of Iranian sweets and chocolates to Iraq is in the news and has not yet entered into force, but in general this issue is worrisome. If this ban included Turkey, it would have been said that this restriction includes everyone; however, it seems that this is the maximum for Iran.
According to a report by the Iranian Khabar Online News Agency, translated by Agency, the Deputy Director General of the Iranian Chamber of Industry, Minerals and Commerce, Arman Khaleqi, indicated that the decision to ban the import of sweets and chocolate to Iraq is still in the news and has not been implemented yet, stressing that the dimensions of this issue are indeed vague.
The head of the Trade Facilitation and Development Committee of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Kaveh Zargaran, recently announced the suspension of exports of sweets and chocolates to Iraq, and said that exports to Iraq faced problems last week despite Iraq being one of the important and effective markets for Iran’s exports.
The report indicated that basically, for some reason, Iraqi traders stopped their purchases and the export of products such as croissants, cocoa cakes and jelly to this country has stopped for the time being. It seems that political negotiations are not very effective in canceling these purchase contracts, and the Iraqis issued this decision in order to support national production. However, the low production of sweets and chocolate in this country kept the hope alive that the export of these products to Iraq will resume soon.
The report quoted Arman Khaleghi as saying that in general, this issue is worrisome. If this happened to Turkey, it would be said that this restriction includes everyone. But it seems that this is the maximum for Iran.
