The South Caucasus is a region of vital importance for Russia, and it is in the interests of Moscow that there should be peace and stability here, said Sergey Kopirkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia, in an interview with the Sputnik radio station.
He noted that foreign forces unfriendly to Moscow are trying to work against Russia’s interests in the South Caucasus.
“In my opinion, they consider the dramatic events in the South Caucasus as an opportunity and opportunity to work against Russia. Unfortunately, it is, and it is having an effect. it is a worrying factor that we have to take into account. But I hope that what unites us will be stronger than attempts to introduce differences in our relations, attempts to undermine Russia’s position and role in the South Caucasus.
The position of the Russian Federation is unequivocal. The South Caucasus is a vital region for us, Russia has played, is playing and will continue to play an important role in the South Caucasus, because it is in our interests for it to be a region of peace, stability and development,” said Sergey Kopirkin.
According to the diplomat, any attempt to create confusion here, to use the region for someone’s conjunctural geopolitical purposes, will be strongly opposed by the Russian Federation.
