There is a silent majority in all countries. they are people who either take part in the elections or don’t take part, they are not interested in politics, in everyday political discourse. They are the driving force of the economy because they work, they are busy, they like wine or cappuccino a lot, and the populists, taking advantage of the silence of this majority, easily speak on its behalf, proclaiming that they are the representatives of the majority.
The role of institutions is important to counteract the populists. the stronger the foundations of the institutions, the more the continuity of the populists will be questioned.
