Riots Erupt in Britain Following Stabbing of Girls
Riots erupted in Britain following the stabbing of three girls in Southport, northern England, last week. Over the weekend, mobs attacked police, burned and looted shops, smashed windows of cars and homes, and attacked at least two hotels housing asylum seekers.
Commenting on the situation, Elon Musk expressed his belief that a civil war in Britain was inevitable, criticizing the criminal justice system’s perceived leniency towards Muslims and drawing parallels to the Soviet Union’s treatment of social media users.
British Justice Minister Heidi Alexander disagreed, urging caution and responsible discourse. “It is not acceptable to call this a civil war,” she stated, highlighting the severity of the injuries and property damage.
Initial social media rumors identified the attacker as a Muslim asylum seeker, later proven false. The suspect was identified as 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, born in Wales, with Rwandan parents.
Despite the incident, radicals have continued to attack mosques, prompting increased security measures.
The government has taken measures to restore order, deploying additional police forces and securing 500 extra prison beds.
Prime Minister Keir Sturmer, characterizing the unrest as far-right thuggery, promised swift action following an emergency meeting with law enforcement and government officials. He declined to comment on Elon Musk’s remarks, focusing instead on ensuring public safety.
