In this situation, the parents of the students have filed a petition with the Theni District Collector demanding the immediate release of their children who are in mortal danger due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
We spoke to Gopinath’s father Veeramani, who is trapped in Ukraine. “Although I have an MA and a B.A., I still do farming. We also wrote the NEET exam to fulfill the son’s doctor dream. We sent our son to Ukraine so as not to waste time.
Just last month, US intelligence said there was a possibility of war in Ukraine. When I inquired about this with my son, they said that there was no war situation in our university administration. He also said that those who want to go to the country can go. Thus the students there were unable to make firm decisions. However, parents from Theni district had to pay Rs. 28,000 for a flight ticket for Rs. By then the war was over and the plane ticket was wasted.
My son in Kiev saw the Russian soldiers blow up the nearby airport. Similarly, many students are terrified of the sound of explosions and battle scenes.
My son, who called me this morning, was shocked to hear that his father was too scared to even get water to drink. The blast sounds were heard continuously until last night. He said no bomb blasts were heard after 8 a.m. today.
Similarly the Indian embassy could not be contacted. We hear that flights have been sent on behalf of India. But, I don’t know what the truth is. This is because airports in major cities in Ukraine have been demolished. They say there is an environment where foreign planes cannot land at the border. Then how can Indian planes rescue the students there. The Russian army, which has captured 65 percent of Kiev, has also hoisted its flag there. And refuse to even come to talks about war. Therefore, the Indian government should intervene and take appropriate action to rescue the students there. ”
