Korean Badminton Player An Seyoung Criticizes Federation
The Badminton Korea Federation (BKA) has responded to recent remarks made by their star player, An Seyoung, who criticized the federation’s handling of her injuries.
An, who recently won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, claimed that the BKA had failed to adequately manage her injuries and accused them of prioritizing their ambitions over the welfare of their athletes.
“My injury was more serious than I thought. I was disappointed with our national team. In short, coach Soo Jung was too careful with my feelings in order to realize my ambition, and made me go through difficult times.”
The BKA countered by stating that they had spent over 11 million won on An’s recovery and were taking steps to ensure the overall security of their athletes.
The federation’s response comes after An’s emotional outburst, which followed their initial statement expressing concern for her well-being.
