A suspect opened fire toward a teenager, hitting him in the upper body before fleeing in the Montreal-North area on Thursday evening.
Police found the 16-year-old victim on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard near Laurier Avenue after receiving a 911 call around 9:45 p.m., a police department spokesperson, Caroline Chevrefils, said.
According to the spokesperson, the young man who regained consciousness was taken to the hospital, where his life is not in danger.
The suspect fled before police arrived at the scene. No arrests had been made as of around 10:30 p.m.
A security perimeter was established to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to gather evidence. The canine unit was also called to the scene to search for clues.
