Launch of Healthcare Services in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra Region
The inauguration of healthcare services in several centers took place in the presence of prominent figures, including the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, the governor of Laâyoune, and local officials. This momentous occasion coincided with the 48th anniversary of the Green March.
At the urban health center “Al Aouda” in Laayoune, Mr. Ait Taleb officially launched the services offered by these centers. The goal is to enhance healthcare accessibility for residents of the three provinces in the region.
These six urban health centers, along with a rural dispensary and an additional center in Boujdour and Tarfaya, are equipped to provide primary healthcare services. The services include:
- General medical examinations and nursing care
- Monitoring of chronic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure)
- Maternal and child health services
- School health services
- Health awareness and education
The launch of these centers aligns with the government’s initiative to rehabilitate and modernize healthcare infrastructure, as outlined in the High Royal Instructions on healthcare system reform. This initiative aims to ensure universal healthcare coverage and social protection.
The commissioning of these facilities reinforces the region’s healthcare system and aligns with the new development model for the southern provinces. By bringing healthcare services closer to the people, the initiative addresses the growing demand for healthcare in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region.
The supervisory department has recruited qualified healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth functioning of these centers and provide quality care to the estimated population of over 133,000.
