Champions League: Round of 16 – Group Stage Update
The first day of the 6th round of the Champions League’s group stage takes place on December 9th. Matches will be played in Groups A, B, C, and D, with all games kicking off at 23:45 Yerevan time.
Group A
Juventus (Italy) vs. Atletico (Spain)
The clash of the Italian and Spanish champions will take place in Turin. Juventus, the current Serie A champions, will host Atletico, who won the La Liga title last season. The first meeting between these two teams ended with a 1-0 victory for Atletico.
Olympiakos (Greece) vs. Malmö (Sweden)
The Greek champions will host Malmö, who are at the bottom of the group. In their first encounter, Malmö emerged victorious with a score of 2-0.
Group B
Real Madrid (Spain) vs. Ludogorets (Bulgaria)
Real Madrid, already qualified for the playoffs, will play their final group match against Ludogorets. Los Blancos won their previous encounter 1-2.
Liverpool (England) vs. Basel (Switzerland)
Liverpool will face Basel in a crucial match in England. The Swiss team won the previous encounter by a narrow margin. A victory for Liverpool will guarantee them 7 points and a playoff spot.
Group C
Monaco (Monaco) vs. Zenit (Russia)
Zenit will travel to Monaco for their final group match. Neither team scored in their first encounter.
Monaco (8 points) vs. Bayer Leverkusen (9 points)
Bayer Leverkusen has already secured their playoff spot, while Monaco needs a win to secure second place.
Benfica (Portugal) vs. Bayer (Germany)
Benfica’s Champions League campaign has been disappointing, and they are unlikely to finish in the top two. They will play their final match against Bayer in Portugal.
Group D
Anderlecht (Belgium) vs. Borussia Dortmund (Germany)
Dortmund, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in their ranks, will travel to Anderlecht. A draw will be enough for them to secure first place in the group.
Galatasaray (Turkey) vs. Arsenal (England)
Arsenal needs a victory to guarantee a playoff spot. They are two points behind Borussia Dortmund going into this match.
