King Charles Addresses Riots in Britain
In his first public intervention since the onset of the recent riots, King Charles addressed the nation on Friday night. From his base in Scotland, the monarch held telephone conversations with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and police chiefs to discuss the incidents.
The King expressed his appreciation for the work of the police and emergency services in restoring peace. He also acknowledged the resilience and unity displayed by the majority of citizens in the face of “aggression and criminality.”
The monarch expressed his hope and faith that the values of mutual respect and understanding would continue to strengthen and unite the nation.
Thousands of police officers remain on alert this weekend in anticipation of potential further violence. The riots erupted following social media posts that falsely implicated a suspect in the murder of three girls in a knife attack on July 29th.
