Leading the pack is Egypt’s Ahmed Elgendi, the Tokyo Olympic vice-champion, with 25 wins and 250 points. Ukraine’s Oleksandr Tovkay follows closely behind with 24 wins and 245 points.
The remaining events, including showjumping, fencing bonus round, and swimming, will take place tomorrow. On Saturday, the competition will conclude with a combination of running and shooting.
Joseph Chung, the Beijing Olympics champion from Great Britain, currently sits in 29th place after his fencing performance, earning 195 points. South Korea’s Ungte Yun, the bronze medalist from the previous Olympics, stands in fourth position with 235 points.
The Paris Olympics will conclude in the French capital on August 11. The Games will extend beyond the capital, encompassing 16 other locations, including the French overseas territory of French Polynesia. A total of 32 sports and 329 sets of medals will be awarded during the competition.
