(24News) Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that their next agenda is to free Pakistan from the IMF’s shackles. He challenged the government to reveal the number of agreements made with the IMF over the past 19 years.
Addressing a rally in Rawalpindi, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman claimed that the government had initially proposed a verbal agreement but later opted for a written pact. The document stated that a forensic audit of IPPs (Independent Power Producers) would be conducted to identify those involved in the agreements made across different political regimes.
Rehman argued that the IMF had distracted the government and the people with irrelevant issues while neglecting the plight of those enslaved by the organization. He recalled past instances where the government had promised land redistribution to farmers but failed to deliver. ”Our next agenda is to free Pakistan from the slavery of the IMF,” he declared.
He recounted the sacrifices made during a 14-day sit-in, highlighting the involvement of mothers, sisters, daughters, and young people. Rehman emphasized that the Jamaat-e-Islami had no personal agenda, despite the economic hardships faced during the struggle. He criticized the government’s inaction and alleged manipulation of IPPs, despite acknowledging the widespread consensus that the agreements were problematic.
