Francisca Crovetto: From Childhood Practice to Olympic Gold
In 2007, Francisca Crovetto made her first competitive appearance, and 17 years later, she capped off her illustrious career with gold at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Her journey to the top began in 2009 when, at just 19, she tasted victory in skeet shooting, the same discipline she dominated at the Paris 2024 Games. This triumph came at the Youth Continental Cup in Concepción.
Crovetto’s path to success started early. At the tender age of three, her father took her to a shooting club where he practiced with friends. By the time she was ten, she was already picking up a gun, and three years later, she began practicing regularly.
Her early competitions were marked by notable achievements. At 17, she placed fourth at the Pan American Games in Brazil. Two years later, she secured the Continental Youth Cup title, and in 2010, she dominated the Ibero-American Championship and South American Games, despite finishing 14th at the World Youth Championship.
Throughout the following years, Crovetto achieved consistent success, securing second place at the 2011 Pan American Games and third place at the 2012 World Cup. She added a new gold medal to her collection at the Bolivarian Games in 2013 and finished second at the 2014 South American Games.
However, her performances were inconsistent, leading to mixed results in the world elite.
The turning point in her career arrived in 2017. After a discreet performance at the World Championships, she bounced back with victory at the Bolivarian Games. Subsequent appearances saw her claim second place at the Pan American Games in 2019 and win the title in 2023.
on August 4, 2024, Francisca Crovetto achieved her lifelong dream, claiming gold in skeet shooting at the Paris Olympics.
