Patrice Laffont, Renowned French TV Host, Passes Away at 84
Renowned French television presenter Patrice Laffont passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84. He succumbed to a heart attack in his home in Oppède, Vaucluse.
Laffont was a familiar face on French television since the 1970s, hosting numerous popular shows like “Des chiffres et des lettres,” “Fort Boyard,” and “Pyramide.” He was known for his charismatic personality, mischievousness, and humor.
His career began in the 1970s on Antenne 2, where he hosted “Des chiffres et des lettres.” He later went on to host numerous other programs, including “Fort Boyard” and ”Pyramide,” becoming a beloved figure on French television.
In the early 2000s, Laffont’s television career saw a decline, but he continued to work on projects like a poker show on D8 and the show “On va s’aimer.” He later found renewed purpose in his first love: theater.
Outgoing Minister of Culture Rachida Dati expressed her appreciation for Laffont’s “mischievousness” and “humor,” praising him as a beloved figure.
