BOLZANO. The Conciliation Commission for Healthcare Liability provides a public service to patients and public and private providers of healthcare services and assists the parties involved in the out-of-court resolution of disputes that have as their object an alleged error in diagnosis and/or therapy or violation of the obligation to provide information.
The independent body’s activity report for 2023 is now available. “It is important that this point of contact exists to enable patients to resolve issues that arise efficiently and without legal disputes,” underlines the Councillor for Health Prevention and Health Hubert Messner.

Statistics show that the specialist area of orthopedics is the one most affected by alleged diagnostic and/or therapeutic errors, with approximately one third of the applications submitted. Other areas frequently affected are the Dental service including that provided privately, the Emergency Department, General Surgery and other specialized surgical areas such as Gynecology and Obstetrics. At the end of December 2023, 437 cases concluded On average they were paid compensation for 47,686.67 euros.
