By the seventh month of the year, vehicle sales in the country reached 124,761 units, showing an annual growth of 12.56%, according to the Mexican Association of Automobile Distributors (AMDA). Sales are still 7.56% below the historical maximum recorded in 2016 for the month of July, according to the report issued by Inegi.
In the accumulated total of the first seven months of the year, sales amount to 830,678 units, showing a growth of 12.28% compared to the same period in 2023, reported Guillermo Rosales, president of the AMDA.
The three brands with the highest sales of light vehicles in July were: Nissan (20,836 units). Notably, Nissan has maintained this position for 20 consecutive months. General Motors (17 thousand 76 units) and Volkswagen (11 thousand 452 units) also performed well.
The Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry for July showed that the production of light vehicles was 302,309 units, with an annual growth of 2.70%, being only 0.15% below the historical maximum for a month of July reached in 2017.
