Dr. China welcomed the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. Expressing its commitment to working with Bangladesh, Beijing stated that mutual exchange and cooperation would continue.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this statement.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “China has seen that Bangladesh has formed an interim government and we welcome it. China strictly follows the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. We respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bangladesh and the freely chosen development path of the Bangladeshi people.”
The spokesperson also emphasized China’s adherence to the principle of good neighborliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh.
He further stated that the friendship between China and Bangladesh is long-standing and deep. China values its relationship with Bangladesh and is ready to work with Bangladesh to enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields and further advance their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
It’s worth noting that Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister on August 5 amidst the quota reform movement and subsequently dissolved the National Parliament. After almost four days, the interim government was sworn in on Thursday night.
