Ministry Signs Agreement to Enhance Iraq’s Role in International Communications

The ⁢Ministry of Communications announced on Tuesday the signing of a joint cooperation agreement to pass international capacities (transit) through Iraq.

The⁣ Ministry’s media office stated in a statement received‍ by Agency, “On ⁢the sidelines of the Kabasti Middle East Conference held in Dubai, a joint‍ cooperation agreement was signed in the presence and under the patronage of the Minister of Communications, ⁢Hiyam Al-Yasiri, to pass international capacities (transit) through Iraq via the (Falcon) submarine cable that‍ reaches Al-Faw.”

The Minister explained that “the agreement was signed between the General Company for Communications and Information Technology ⁣and GCX Company,” adding ⁤that “this signing comes within the framework of efforts to enhance Iraq’s strategic position in ‍the ​region and make it a safe alternative ‌land corridor for⁢ international ‍communications traffic ‍reaching Europe.”
