PAOK is scouring the European market for a defensive midfielder, as the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” has definitively ruled out the possibility of signing Swaliou Meité.
Recent reports suggest that the Thessaloniki club has set its sights on Tiemoué Bakayoko, a player with experience at the highest level. The 29-year-old Frenchman played last season in France’s Ligue 1 with Lorient, making 21 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Standing at 1.89m, Bakayoko primarily plays as a defensive midfielder (primarily a number 6), but can also comfortably fill the role of central midfielder.
Throughout his career, the experienced right-footed midfielder has played for notable European clubs such as Monaco, Chelsea, Napoli, and Milan, and has also made one appearance for the French national team.
Worth noting is that over the years, Bakayoko has completed transfers and loans worth €60.8 million, with Chelsea splashing out €40 million to acquire him from Monaco in 2017.
