Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has finally commented on the recent offensive of the Ukrainian army in the western Russian border region of Kursk. He described the actions of the Ukrainian forces as ”pushing the war onto the territory of the aggressor,” according to AFP.
Zelensky stated that Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Sirsky has already provided several updates from the front line, and that Ukrainian forces are “pushing the war into the aggressor’s territory.”
I express my gratitude to every branch of our Defense Forces who make this possible. Ukraine is demonstrating its ability to deliver justice and exert pressure on the aggressor.
Earlier on August 10, Russia claimed it had evacuated tens of thousands of people from its border area, initiating what it called a “counter-terrorism operation.”
Neither Zelensky nor the military in Kiev have elaborated on the current status of the Ukrainian offensive in Russian territory.
In recent days, the Ukrainian president has only hinted indirectly at the attack in the direction of Kursk, stating in his Thursday evening address: “Russia has brought the war to our land and must feel the consequences of their actions.”
