Armenia Coach Reflects on Loss to Latvia
The friendly match between Latvia and Armenia took place on September 3rd. Following the game, Armenia’s head coach, Bernard Shaland, addressed the media.
On the Match Outcome:
“I am very disappointed with the result, but not with the game of our team. Soccer is a simple game – if you don’t score, you lose. We had several clear chances to score but couldn’t capitalize.”
On Team Formation:
“I am satisfied with the 3-defender setup. It’s a formation that suits us. It’s important for the players to be comfortable with different formations.”
On Defensive Performance:
“We had some problems in standard situations due to Latvia’s tall players, but I’m not concerned about the defense. We created numerous scoring opportunities ourselves.”
On Finding a Striker:
“We don’t have another Movsisyan, but other attackers need to step up. I’m keeping the faith in the boys.”
On Mauro Gevgeozyan’s Availability:
“Mauro is currently in South America and it’s unlikely he’ll be available for the next game.”
