The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan, with Shakib Al Hasan included in the team.
Following the recent political changes in Bangladesh, there were speculations about Shakib’s potential return to the national team. However, the BCB has confirmed his presence in the squad for the Test series.
The squad includes several notable changes from the previous series. Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed returns to the Test team after a break. Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed the last series due to injury, is also back in the 16-member squad. Young batsman Shahadat Hossain Dipu has been omitted.
The BCB has opted for a more balanced squad, increasing the number of pacers in the team and reducing the number of batsmen.
Despite the gradual return to normalcy in the country, security concerns remain due to the absence of police. Some players, including Nazmul Hossain Shanto, have faced restrictions in their training due to these concerns.
To mitigate these risks, the BCB has decided to travel to Pakistan ahead of schedule. The team will depart Dhaka five days before the originally scheduled date and will travel on a chartered flight.
The two-match Test series is scheduled to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, with the second match taking place in Karachi from August 30.
