The matches of the 5th round of the World Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, Norway have ended. The men’s national team competed with the Norwegian national team, and the women’s team took a test against the Lithuanian team. This is reported by chessfed.am.
The decisive factor in the Armenia-Norway match was Gabriel Sargsyan’s victory over Agdestein. Aronian-Karlsen, Movsisyan-Hammer and Hakobyan-Yohanesen games ended in a draw. Thus, the Armenian national team won with a score of 2.5:1.5 and currently occupies the 17th place with 8 points. Let’s add that the leaders were ahead of our team by only one point.
The Armenian women’s team, in turn, won 3:1 over the Lithuanian team. Lilit Mkrtchyan defeated Zaksaite, Lilit Galoyan defeated Domarkaite. Elina Danielyan shared the point with Daulite, and Maria Kursova with Batkovskaite. After the 5th round, our team is in 16th position with 8 points.
Let’s add that today is a day off in Olympiad. In the 6th round to be held on August 8, our boys will meet the England team, and the women’s team will be the Cuban team.
