The “Israel Film Festival” under the auspices of the National Film Development Corporation in India was scheduled to be held on Wednesday and Thursday of August 21 and 22 at the National Museum of Indian Cinema in Mumbai, but was canceled due to public outcry.
The news of the cancellation of the “Israel Film Festival” was confirmed by former Member of the Indian Parliament Lok Sabha and Communist Party leader Rehman Shabhashini Ali through the social networking app X (formerly Twitter). The “Israel Film Festival” organized by the Film Development Corporation and the National Museum of Indian Cinema on August 21 and 22 in Mumbai has been canceled as more than 1,000 people protested against the festival through a signature campaign. Later, the film festival was stopped due to public pressure.
Those who demanded to cancel the exhibition of Israeli films said that the Israel Film Festival is being held in India at a time when the whole world is witnessing the genocide of Israel in Gaza and the whole of Palestine. said that Indian citizens do not support any kind of violent acts, so this festival should be banned immediately.
Among those who opposed the “Israeli Film Festival” were ordinary Indian citizens, as well as famous Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah and others.
