A statement by the Football Association received by the (INA) stated that “the training sessions, which were hosted by the Qatar University stadiums, were attended by the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, the Second Vice President of the Association, Younis Mahmoud, and the member of the Iraqi Association, Ahmed Al-Moussawi. Twenty-one players participated in them. The training sessions were preceded by a technical lecture by the Spanish technical staff, which focused on the defensive style and playing areas in the defensive third, in which the training staff demanded the necessity of applying them practically in the vocabulary of the training unit.”
The statement added that “the Spanish assistant coach (Isidro Ramon Madere) joined the training to join the technical staff of our national team, who had previously worked with Jesus Casas in more than one training station, including in Barcelona, ​​Spain, and Watford, England.”
The statement indicated that “the head of the Iraqi delegation, Younis Mahmoud, met with the national team players, and urged them during their meeting on the necessity of focusing on the current and next stage of the qualifiers, as it will be the real turning point in reaping the fruits of qualifying for the World Cup, and staying away from everything that disturbs the harmony within the system, and adhering to the directives of the technical staff and the management of the national team to reflect the spirit of one team competing with strength, steadfastness and confidence to qualify for the World Cup.”
