Taking into account the letter of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia dated November 30, 2020 and the plan of five-way measures related to the spawning period of the “Whitefish” fish species, in order to ensure the normal reproduction of the fish in the months of December 2020 and January 2021, in the Sevan Road, Dilijan strongholds, on the coast of Lake Sevan and As a result of joint control and preventive measures implemented by the Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Authority, Sevan National Park SNOC and police officers, 5,153 whitefish (with a total weight of 1,837 kg) were seized from the water mirror area, the ministry reports.
22 polyethylene fishing nets, each 100 meters long, were taken out of Lake Sevan. The amount of compensation for the damage caused to the animal world was AMD 9,185,750.
The employees of the Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Body handed over the seized fish to “Sevan Mental Health Center” CJSC, “Gavari” Orphanage, “Dilijan” Boarding School, Dilijan Municipality, which handed them over to families who settled temporarily from the Republic of Artsakh and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
