In the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, working groups were created in order to collect, analyze and evaluate information on the conditions of sale of consumer goods, including prices, as well as their stocks during the martial law declared in RA. SAS”, “Eureka”, “Yerevan City”, “Nor Zovk” trade points, carried out daily monitoring of about 31 product groups (about 106 types of products).
In order to reveal the reasons for the price increases recorded during the monitoring, as well as to find out and evaluate the justification of these price increases, the Commission conducted a multi-faceted study, and at the same time, the international price dynamics of these products were also studied.
The commission observed the retail sale prices of the mentioned products, compared them with the data of the previous day, and in case of price increases, studies were carried out on individual products. In addition, the Commission applied to about 32 large companies carrying out import and production, collected information on wholesale prices and stock balances of about 20 product groups (including 129 products) on a daily basis. In case of detecting price increases, detailed studies were carried out, justifications and explanations were promptly requested from business entities, relevant calculations were carried out, and if necessary, double monitoring.
As a result of the monitoring, the commission specifically recorded that in the trading facilities belonging to some large commercial chains, there was an increase in the sale price of sugar sold by the kilogram (unpackaged) by 6-7%, an increase in the sale price of “New Zealand” and “Ankor” types of butter sold by the kilogram. up to 1%, an increase in the prices of certain types of sunflower and corn oils by 2-7%.
As a result of the studies, it was recorded that the increase in the selling prices of these products is mainly due to a number of objective factors: the increase in import prices, the devaluation of the dram, the increase in international prices, etc.
