‘Bangladesh Artists Welfare Trust’ has been formed for the welfare of artists. The Ministry of Culture announced the names of the members of Shilpi Kalyan Trust through a notification on Sunday (September 15).
In this list of 15 members are – Interim Government Ministry of Cultural Affairs Advisor, Secretary, Director General of Bangla Academy, Director General of Shilpakala Academy, Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry, Managing Director of Shilpi Kalyan Trust.
Also, representatives from different fields have been kept this time. Among them are poet columnist and organizer Nahid Hasan Knowledge, producer Ashfaq Nipun, actress Naushaba Ahmed, drama personality and teacher Samina Lutfa, writer and teacher Tuhin Wadud, musician Kanakchampa, poet Imtiaz Mahmud and poet Syed Jamil.
Announcing the names of 15 members, it is stated in the notification, Bangladesh Artists Welfare Trustee Board Notification No. 40,00,0000,116,22.012.22,214 of the Ministry of Culture, dated: 18 April 2023 partially amended Bangladesh Artists Welfare Trust Act, 2001 ( The Government reconstituted the Board of Trustees to manage the Bangladesh Artists Welfare Trust under the powers conferred by Section 6 of Act No. 32 of 2001).
Various welfare activities including assistance to poor artists, implementation of projects for their welfare, providing medical assistance in case of illness, giving scholarships for special contribution in art work, support for the education of talented children of artists are conducted through this trust.
