Argentine Lionel Messi expressed his great happiness to return to the stadiums and lead his team, Inter Miami, to a 3-1 victory over its counterpart, Philadelphia Union, in the match that brought them together, at dawn today, Sunday, in the American League.
Messi scored two goals and made the third for his teammate Luis Suarez in a match between the two teams at the “Chase” stadium.
The match witnessed Messi’s return after a long absence from the field due to injury.
“The truth is that I was a little tired, and the heat and humidity in Miami didn’t help much,” Messi said after the match.
“I was eager to play and come back again because I had been out of action for a long time, but gradually I started training with my teammates and felt better, so I decided to participate and I am very happy,” he added.
He continued: “Today we are in the lead by a large margin, and we deserve it, and we hope that we can finish the competition at the top.”
He added: “In fact, this year we were unlucky, and we were not complete due to injuries. There were always missing players, but the team overcame that.”
