jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate of Cultural Personnel and Institutions Development of the Directorate General of Culture successfully held the peak night of the 2024 Indonesian Cultural Awards (AKI).

The event, which carried the theme “Special Offering for Cultural Movers,” took place at The Tribrata Hotel and Convention Darmawangsa, Jakarta, Tuesday (17/9).

The peak night of AKI 2024 was attended by Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Hilmar Farid.

Also present were representatives of ministries/institutions from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, the Head of the Cultural Service, the Association of Professionals in the Cultural Sector, representatives of the Embassies of friendly countries, as well as a number of artists and cultural figures.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology divides the criteria for recipients of the 2024 AKI into two types, namely the Honorary Medal from the President of the Republic of Indonesia consisting of the Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma and Satyalancana Kebudayaan, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology’s awards include the categories of Traditional Arts Maestro, Preservator, Pioneer and/or Reformer, Foreign Institutions and Individuals, Media, and Children.

Five names of cultural activists were selected to receive the 2024 AKI award for the Traditional Arts Maestro category.

They are Temu Misti (Banyuwangi gandrung), Tatang Setiadi (Sundanese traditional arts), Rusini (dance arts), Kartolo (ludruk), and Baiya (singer of long songs).
